First National celebrates Lunar New Year

In recognition of this happy occasion and to kick off the Year of the Snake – which symbolizes wisdom, elegance and transformation – our team in Vancouver chose to celebrate with purpose. 

Through a series of draws, they raised funds (matched by First National) to support the Chinese Canadian Museum. Located in the oldest building in Vancouver’s Chinatown, the museum honours the history, contributions and heritage of Chinese Canadians.   

To complement these draws, museum representatives Janice Wu and Rosalie Gunawan shared historical insights, helping us to better appreciate a cultural event that in China is said to date back to the Shang Dynasty of the 14th century BCE. We thank Janice and Rosalie for imparting their knowledge, congratulate the winners of our fundraising draws and encourage everyone to visit the Chinese Canadian Museum. 

But that’s not all. To truly immerse themselves in the spirit of the occasion, members of our Vancouver team enjoyed an amazing meal and bubble tea catered by T&T Supermarket. 

Lunar New Year is officially celebrated for 15 days, but we feel it’s never too late to wish you good fortune and prosperity in the months ahead.
